Haven: the town hub, merchants and currencies
Haven is the thirteenth map and the only one where nothing attacks you: a walled 84×84 plaza of six stalls, a waystone, a quest board and the Map Device. This covers how you get in and out, what each stall sells, where every coin comes from and what the wandering traders are for.
Getting in and out
Press H — the TOWN button — and you teleport in; in co-op the server moves the whole room. Arriving wipes the board: enemies are cleared, floor loot is swept up and you land on plaza tile (24, 20) at full health — co-op floats the word Haven over your head, solo play toasts "Welcome to Haven!".
The town map declares no enemy families and no boss, and walking in clears the enemy list outright. To leave, take the north-gate portal on tile (24, 2) — it returns you to the last campaign land you stood on, never the land of the map you just ran — or use the waystone.
The six stalls
Two markets flank the plaza: three stalls at x = 11 facing right, three at x = 36 facing left, each merchant in the aisle in front of a 5×3 stall block.
| Stall sign | Merchant | What is on the shelf | Tile |
|---|---|---|---|
| WEAPONS | Weaponmaster — Arms Dealer | Weapons | 11, 13 |
| ARMOR | Armorer — Master Smith | Armor and defensive trinkets | 11, 19 |
| TRINKETS | Jeweler — Gemcutter | Gems, jewelry, socketed trinkets | 11, 25 |
| POTIONS | Apothecary — Potion Master | Potions, elixirs, reagents | 36, 13 |
| MAPS | Cartographer | Map scrolls for conquered lands | 36, 19 |
| SCROLLS | Mystic — Arcane Trader | Skill scrolls and rare currencies | 36, 25 |
These six never roam or despawn, and stock is rolled once when the stall is set up and kept for the whole visit. Potions and maps are always quoted in Gold; each gear offer rolls its own currency from all four at random, priced at 50 × 1.5rarity with a ±20% roll. In co-op you may only buy while standing in Haven.
Four currencies and where they come from
The top bar tracks them as G E S O. All four are earned in play; none is ever sold.
| Currency | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Gold (G, yellow) | Every kill spills gold in that enemy's gold range and it auto-loots to you; chests, quests and bounties pay it too, and a Gold Rush doubles what you pick up. |
| Essence (E, blue) | 8% + 1% per enemy level (a boss rolls as level 3), +15 points on a champion and +30 on a rare; pays 1–3, plus 1 for a champion and 3 for a rare. |
| Shards (S, purple) | 3% + 0.5% per enemy level, paying 1–3 at a time — the rarer of the two common drops. |
| Orbs (O, red) | Bosses only: a 50% chance of 1–2 orbs, the currency that gates the top of the Forge. |
All three materials also drop out of the Forge, which converts between them: 2,000 Gold → 5 Essence, 5,000 → 3 Shards, 15,000 → 2 Orbs, 2 Shards → 4 Essence, 1 Orb → 5 Shards. Only quests and bounties pay Gold — see the quest guide for the payouts.
You cannot sell — dismantle instead
There is no sell button and no way to turn loot back into Gold; the tutorial says it plainly — you cannot sell items, drop them or dismantle at the Forge. Press F, open the dismantle tab and break gear down by rarity: 1–2 Essence at the bottom, 2–4 with 1–2 Shards, 4–7 with 2–4, then 6–10 Essence, 4–7 Shards and 1–2 Orbs, and at the top 10–15 Essence, 8–12 Shards and 3–5 Orbs.
Wandering traders
Six trader types walk in from a map edge, cross a lane and leave at the far side, pausing five seconds when you come within 80 pixels so you can talk. Offers are rolled at spawn and stay exactly as they were until the trader walks off; the next one brings a fresh set.
| Trader | Specialty | Restock listed | Stock size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weaponmaster — Arms Dealer | Weapons | 30 min | 6 |
| Armorer — Master Smith | Armor, trinkets | 30 min | 5 |
| Apothecary — Potion Master | Potions | 20 min | 8 |
| Jeweler — Gemcutter | Trinkets, gems | 45 min | 4 |
| Cartographer | Maps | 60 min | 4 |
| Mystic — Arcane Trader | Scrolls, essence, currencies | 45 min | 4 |
Stock size splits across a trader's specialties, with two wildcard offers added on top. The restock figure sits on each definition, but the shop never ticks down to it: stock is rolled at spawn and kept until the trader leaves, so read those minutes as intent rather than a refresh. Solo caps the board at 3 merchants at once, counting every one of them, so with Haven's six stalls standing, wanderers only appear out in the lands. Co-op shares one server-owned wanderer with three fixed deals — Health Potion 60 Gold, Hearth Rest 40, Mystery Gear 120 — who returns 25 to 60 seconds after leaving.
Waystone, quest board and Map Device
Three structures do the town's work. The waystone is the 3×3 crystal at tile (29, 15): tap it and every land you have reached is listed, a name teleports you there, and an empty list tells you to defeat a boss first. The quest board is the 2×2 notice board at tile (14, 8), lantern and exclamation mark above it, holding three quests at a time. The Map Device is the 3×3 structure at tile (22, 28) that spins up modified runs — the Map Device guide covers tiers, modifiers and timers.
