Is Pixoot free to play?

Yes. Pixoot is a free browser pixel-art action RPG: open the page, press play, and you are hunting. There is no download, no installer and no account required to start. The only things that cost money are cosmetic, and nothing you buy makes your hunter stronger. Here is exactly what that means.

Yes — and here is exactly what that means

Free here means the whole game, not a demo with a clock on it. Nothing in the list below is behind a payment:

Where each currency comes from and what the Forge charges for it is covered in the crafting and currencies guide.

What costs money

Two purchases exist, both optional, both cosmetic, both shown in US dollars and paid for through Stripe Checkout:

PurchasePriceWhat it unlocks
One cosmetic category$2.99Every item in that one category, once
Supporter pack$14.99, one-timeAll 8 categories, plus the Supporter badge in chat

There are 88 cosmetics in total: 8 categories of 11 items each — wings, auras, hats, pets, trails, halos, capes and accessories. The first cosmetic in every one of the 8 categories is free, so every slot on your hunter can be customised without paying anything. Cosmetics only change how your hero looks; they are drawn on top of your character and replace no stats.

What you can never buy

No gameplay advantage is for sale. The store accepts exactly two kinds of purchase — a pack or a category — and there is nothing else it will sell you:

The terms of service put it in one line: Pixoot is free to play, cosmetics are optional, and they are the only thing that is charged for.

Accounts, saves and buying safely

You do not need an account to play, but you do need one to buy, and the email address on it must be verified first — checkout is refused for an unverified address, so every unlock is tied to an account you control.

Payment is handled by Stripe, and Pixoot never receives, stores or sees your card number, CVC or expiry date. Prices are confirmed in dollars before you pay, unlocks arrive immediately, and purchases, refunds and chargebacks are written out in the terms of service. The data behind accounts and payments is covered by the privacy policy.

That is the whole deal: the game is free, the extras are cosmetic, and progress is only ever earned.
