Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 27 September 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Pixoot ("the game"), accessible at pixoot.com. By creating an account or playing the game, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and forms part of these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
- By accessing or using Pixoot you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the game.
- In the EEA and UK, the age at which you can agree to these Terms yourself ranges from 13 to 16 depending on your country. If you are below the age that applies where you live, a parent or guardian must agree on your behalf — and if we later learn that a below-age user registered unaided, we will delete the account.
- Age is confirmed by self-declaration; we do not ask for identity documents.
2. Account Registration
- You may register with an email address and password, or use Google Sign-In.
- You may also play as a guest — a temporary profile with no email — which is automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity (permanently removed 30 days later).
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts.
- One account per person. We reserve the right to disable accounts that violate this rule.
- Chat requires a verified email address (or a Google sign-in) — see §3.
3. Chat and Communications
3.1 Who can chat
- Chat is available only to logged-in accounts with a verified email address or Google sign-in. There is no anonymous chat.
- Messages post under your account nickname (not your hero name), resolved on the server. Nicknames are changeable in Account Settings and are subject to the same moderation rules as everything else here.
- Channels: public community channels (Global, LFG, Single player, Builds), staff-run read-only channels (FAQ, News), and a chat for your current co-op room. Room chat is restricted to players actually in that room.
- The minimum-age rules in §1 apply to chat and whispers too.
3.2 Your messages — ownership and licence
- You keep ownership of the messages you write.
- You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, transmit, display, reproduce, moderate and adapt your messages as needed to operate, moderate, secure and improve the service — including sharing them with the processors that run the service (hosting, database, email) and with authorities where the law requires it.
- This licence ends when your message or account is deleted, except for copies we must keep for moderation records, legal claims or legal obligations (as described in the Privacy Policy).
3.3 What is not allowed in chat
You agree not to post content that:
- Is illegal, or promotes illegal acts, fraud, scams or phishing
- Harasses, threatens, bullies, incites hatred against, or degrades people on the basis of protected characteristics
- Contains sexual content involving minors in any form — such content means immediate termination of the account and a report to the authorities
- Discloses anyone's personal data without permission (doxxing), including addresses, phone numbers or private correspondence
- Is spam, unsolicited advertising, chain messages, or recruitment for cheating services
- Impersonates another person, player or our staff
- Circumvents a mute, ban or filter, or uses bots and automation to send messages
- Asks for, or offers to sell/trade, accounts, in-game items or cosmetics for real-world value
This list is illustrative, not exhaustive — see §4 for the general conduct rules.
3.4 Moderation and enforcement
- Every message passes automated filters (banned-word list, spam scoring, rate limits, a one-time human-verification puzzle). Flagged and blocked messages are recorded for review; staff review flagged content and reports in an admin tool.
- Moderation actions we may take, at our discretion: blocking a message, hiding or removing a posted message, a temporary chat mute, suspension, or a permanent ban.
- When an automated filter stops a message, the reason is shown to you. For staff actions you can ask for the reason and for human review — write to [email protected] and we will assess your case fairly and tell you the outcome.
- Repeat offences, ban evasion, or attempting to evade a mute or ban may lead to a permanent ban.
- We do not undertake to monitor all chat ourselves: automated filtering plus user reports is how moderation happens. We do not warrant that any specific message will or will not be moderated.
3.5 Reports and illegal content
- To report a message, nickname, player, or any content you believe is illegal, email [email protected] with the channel, approximate time and what happened. We process reports and notices fairly, promptly, transparently and non-arbitrarily, and tell you the outcome.
- For intellectual-property complaints (e.g., something in chat infringes your copyright), use the same address with "IP complaint" in the subject and include the specific content and your contact details.
- Misusing reports to silence other players is itself a violation.
3.6 No confidentiality in channels
Channel messages are visible to everyone in that channel. Do not share in chat anything you would not want other players to see — we do not guarantee confidentiality of public or room channels. A live notice above the chat input reminds you that messages are stored and visible.
4. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use hacks, exploits, bots, or automated tools to play the game.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the game servers or databases.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other players — in-game or in chat (see §3).
- Impersonate another person or entity.
- Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content.
- Use the game for any illegal purpose.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract game assets or code.
- Evade a mute, suspension or ban we have issued.
5. Intellectual Property
- All game code, graphics, sounds, maps, and design are the intellectual property of Pixoot.
- You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to play the game for personal entertainment.
- You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the game.
- In-game hero names and chat nicknames you create are subject to moderation; offensive or infringing names may be changed or removed.
- You own the messages you post; the licence you grant us is described in §3.2.
6. Virtual Items and Progress
- All in-game items, currency, and progress have no real-world monetary value and cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged.
- We reserve the right to modify, reset, or remove game items and progress at any time for balance or fairness purposes.
- Guest profiles and their data are deleted after 90 days of inactivity (and permanently removed 30 days later) without notice.
7. Purchases, Payments and Refunds
Pixoot is free to play. Cosmetics are optional and are the only thing we charge for. The following applies to every purchase:
- Prices are always shown in US dollars before you pay: $2.99 per cosmetics category and $14.99 for the Supporter pack (all eight categories). The first cosmetic in every category is free, so you never have to pay to play or to customise your hero.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Pixoot never receives, stores, or sees your full card number, CVC, or expiry date.
- You must have a verified email address before you can buy. Purchases are recorded against your account, so they cannot be moved to a different or unverified account.
- An unlock is licensed to your account for as long as that account exists. It is personal to you, non-transferable, and cannot be sold, traded, or exchanged for real-world value.
- Cosmetics are delivered instantly and are digital goods. Except where applicable law gives you a mandatory right of withdrawal or refund, all purchases are final. If you believe you were charged in error, contact [email protected] and we will investigate.
- Where EU/EEA consumer law gives you a 14-day withdrawal right for digital content, that right can end early only if you expressly consent to immediate performance and confirm you lose the right before you pay — this is presented at checkout.
- Refunds obtained through your payment provider (a chargeback) may result in the matching unlocks being removed from your account.
- If buying would breach any law that applies where you live, that purchase is not offered to you.
8. Service Availability
- We strive to keep Pixoot available 24/7 but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
- We may perform maintenance, updates, or take the service offline without prior notice.
- We are not liable for any loss of data, progress, or in-game items resulting from service interruptions. Chat messages are additionally subject to the retention schedule in our Privacy Policy.
9. Termination
- You may delete your account at any time from Account Settings.
- We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion — including for chat violations (§3).
- When we restrict content or an account, we will tell you what happened and why where the law requires it (statements of reasons), and you may appeal by email.
- Upon termination (by you or us), your account data — including your chat messages — will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
10. Limitation of Liability
- Pixoot is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the game.
- Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us for Pixoot in the 12 months before the claim (or zero, if you have paid nothing).
- Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and your mandatory rights as a consumer.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the game or email with reasonable notice before they take effect. Continued use of the game after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms; if you do not agree, stop using the game and delete your account. We record which version of these Terms you accepted and when; when a new version takes effect we will ask you to confirm it again in the game.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction. Nothing in this section affects mandatory consumer protections in the country where you live: as a consumer you may bring proceedings there, and we do not waive any rights you have under mandatory law.
